James B. Mitchell

Funeral services for Mr. James B. Mitchell, 94, of Hughes Springs, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  Burial will follow at Cornett Cemetery.  There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

James B. Mitchell 94 of Hughes Springs passed away at his home on August 29, 2025.

James was born to Charles Olen Mitchell and Vera Viola Harper on February 28, 1931, in Cass County, Texas.

James was married to Erlene Lowery for 62 years until her passing in 2012. He spent his working career with The Texas Department of Public Transportation staying 40+ years. He worked in the Lone Star Steel Plant for Hackett Construction another 7 years.

Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers and seven sisters, one daughter Connie Brock, an infant son, and two sons in laws, Charles Hull and Noel Proctor.

Survivors include three daughters Geraldine Hull, Vickie Pate (Rex), and Felecia Gomez (Israel). Six grandchildren Chris Hull, Lance Hull (Lea Ann), Rodney Ortega, Clint Roberts (Jennifer), James Gomez (Stephanie), and Ashley Gomez Caley. Six great grand children Katy Hull, Ely Hull, Trent (Grace) Roberts, Brady Roberts, Adryn Gomez (Taylor), Jordan Gomez (Mandy), and Molly and Abigail Caley. Three great- great grandchildren. One sister Ann Furlow (Jerry), one brother Jimmy Mitchell (Judy) and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and other relatives.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
