  2. Paula, we are thinking of you and so sorry about James. I know Robert and Judi thought so much of you both. Our sympathy is with you for the days ahead.

  3. MentorI've always had a special relationship with my "Uncle James". I can remember pulling up to his house in Pleasant Grove and being scared to get out of my Dad's 1966 Dodge Dart since the dog was insisting that we stay in the car. I remember when James and Paula moved to Linden and visiting them there. I remember when I was about 8 years old, walking through the woods behind the house with James "hunting" with my BB gun. He would ask me to shoot a spider or a leaf just to see if I could hit it. He was always encouraging and wanted to help me. I had no idea that those days were the foundation of what was in our future. As a teenager, I brought my girlfriend Judi to visit them. We arrived at their house and nobody was home. So we sat in the swing on their porch waiting for them to return. As we were swinging, the swing fell, so we had to "break" the news that we "broke" the swing to them. Even though we broke the swing, James and Paul both laughed with us about it. James and Paul's home holds a special place in our hearts because that is where I proposed to Judi.I've always had an interest in the outdoors and I enjoyed helping James with his cows. He helped me start my own herd of cows from the offspring of his cows. His expertise with cows was invaluable to me since I was always calling for advice about livestock, sometimes when they were sick, or even just to get his thoughts on where to put fences on our place that would make good sense. James was always there for me and always willing to help.James had another great passion, hunting deer. He asked me several times to come hunting with him and finally, I agreed to try, but I had never shot a high powered rifle. James taught me how to shoot with accuracy. He shared his respect for the deer and taught me the same. I killed my first deer with James and looked forward to deer season every year. We created many hunting memories over the years. James had a profound impact on my life. He not only taught me about raising cows, shooting guns, and hunting deer, he played a big role in who I am today. I'm not sure how many other people are lucky enough to have a relationship with their Uncle like I have, but I'm a better man for the influence that James has had on my life.

  4. Paula, Our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family. I know it is a heartbreak and a relief all at once that he is no longer with us, but also no longer suffering from cancer. We love you so much and may God be with you during this difficult time.

  5. James and Paula. That is the way I will always remember James. A finer example of a marital union could not be found anywhere. I admired them for their devotion to each other above all else. I was blessed by their friendship. Love Always, Tommy
