James Earl Edmond

Services for Mr. James Earl Edmond will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Oak Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Edmond will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James Earl Edmond (Big Ed) was born November 21, 1942 from the union of the late James W. and Rachel Edmond. He was the oldest of three children. James recommitted himself to Mt. Mitchel Church of Christ and later Oak Grove Church of Christ.
James graduated from JJ Rhoads Hugh School in Daingerfield, Texas in 1962 and later attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. James worked for over 30 years at Lone Star Steel until he retired. On June 12, 1965 he married the love of his life, Margie Everett and they were blessed for 44 years. To this union five children were born. He was loved and cared for throughout the duration of his illness.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Victor Edmond and Steve Edmond; brother, Melvin Edmond; sister, Sharon Dillard; nephew, James Edmond; and niece, Shonette Edmond.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Margie Edmond of Cason; two daughters, Teresa (Eric) Peel of Longview, Meloney Edmond of Cason; son, Stanley (Allyson) Edmond of Bettie, Texas; grandchildren, Tomasina, Germayne, Alex, Steve, Victor (Kasinda), Tyler, Victoria, Jaden, Anissa; great-grandchildren, Khylee and Carter; daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Jean; brothers-in-law, Ray (Sally)Everett, Robert Everett, Billy Everett, Billy Dillard; sister-in-law, Flora James; uncle, Richard Smith of Detroit; aunts, Clara Smith of Detroit, Annie Lafayette, Ethel Smith, Valerine Smith, all of Cason, Bernice Banks of Daingerfield, Mary Davis of Ft. Worth; nieces, Tina Jackson and Rochelle Williams; and a host of cousins and friends.
