Funeral services for Jaylen T. Hatten, 13, of Avinger, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Hughes Springs High School Auditorium. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Avinger under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Jaylen will lie in state from 12:00 until 7:00 Friday afternoon at the funeral home. 

Jaylen was born November 12, 2008 to Amber Hatten at Good Shepherd in Longview, Texas. He attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He was a student at Avinger Jr. High where he loved to play basketball and hang with his friends. When he wasn’t on the court he did his next best thing, played basketball games on his play station. He loved his mom, family, and especially his Pawpaw who he shared the love of basketball with. Jaylen always had a big smile on his face and the biggest heart.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted mother, Amber Hatten and stepfather, Rowdy Hamilton; one unborn brother; two step sisters: Lenny and Paisley Hamilton; grandparents:  Jeanette (Melvin) Montgomery, Monty Wesley of Avinger; great-grandparents: Tommie Lee and Jerry Hatten of Avinger; six uncles: Derrick McCray of Ft. Worth, Kendrick Bacon, Montrey Hatten, Montreal Hatten and Dustin Hatten of Avinger; two great-aunts: Virginia Linwood of Avinger, Janette Linwood of Longview; four great-uncles: Jerry Wayne Hatten of Avinger, Billy Ray Hatten and Anthony Hatten of Longview, Dennis Hatten of Avinger; a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
