Jerry Wayne Hatten, age 72, of Avinger, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2025. He was born on May 11, 1953, to Jerry Lynn Hatten and Tommie Johnson Hatten.

Jerry accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he remained a dedicated member until his health began to decline. A proud graduate of Avinger High School, Jerry was known for his warm, outgoing personality and his love for family and fellowship.

On January 23, 1975, Jerry married Odie Linwood Hatten and together, they shared 50 years of unwavering love and partnership. Jerry worked for many years at TNN Warehouse. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing a good game of dominoes, cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and watching basketball.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lynn Hatten; brother, Steven Hatten; stepson, Shelton Hicks; and nephews Jaylen Hatten, Montrell Hatten, and Brandon Hatten.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 50 years, Odie Hatten; his beloved mother, Tommie Hatten; and stepson, Moses Hicks, Jr. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Virginia Linwood (Jimmy), Billy Hatten (Katie), Janette Linwood, Jeanette Hatten Montgomery (Melvin), Anthony Hatten (Susie), and Dennis Hatten. He is mourned by his aunt, Sherry Gaston, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hatten will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Avinger, Texas. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of viewing and visitation with friends and family from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the funeral home.
