It is with a heavy heart and much sorrow, we must share that Jimmy Lloyd Woodland passed away on November 30, 2021. 

Jim was born in Blooming Grove, Texas on April 13, 1936. He was a four year Navy veteran He attended Kilgore Junior College and North Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He furthered his education by receiving his Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Fern Woodland; his son-in-law, Ric Haughton; and grandson, Leo Logan Schwartz. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Sara Brooks Woodland; two daughters and son-in-law, Monetta and Steve Schwartz of Hideaway, Texas and Vanessa Haughton of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Kelsey Lee and Stella Eve Schwartz; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Eddie Davis of Waxahachie; and many other friends and family. 

Cremation services will be provided by Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. No services will be held in his memory, at his wish, but if you would like to honor the life and memory of Jim Woodland, who was loved and admired by all, please embrace a few moments in nature - take a walk, relax in a hammock, hang a bird feeder, hang a wind chime, sit by the water, or plant a flower or tree. These are things he loved.

  1. Our deep and sincere sympathy for your loss. We thought a lot of Jim. He was always ready to step across the street with his big smile and visit a while. Our memories of Jim and his kindness will never be forgotten. Brooke, may God carry you tenderly through this hard time.

  3. We were so sad to hear of the passing of Jimmy, my heart goes out to Brooke and all the family. We thought a lot of him, always smiling and so friendly….and and Brooke were such a good example of a good marriage. We loved running into them….everywhere! Heaven gained an angel and we will miss seeing him, I'm glad we have the memories…..prayers for his family and sweet wife during these difficult days and those to come….

  4. Miss Brooks, thoughts and Prayers are with you during this time. Mr. Jim was so loved by so many, I will miss his presence when I see you again. I just loved talking with you two when we seen each other out and about, I could just feel the love you two had.

  5. I remember the day I met you and Brook. You were riding around in Jenkins looking for a house that was for sale. You found it and purchased it and have lived there until your death. Knowing you since that day has been a great friendship. I know Brook will be lost without you.

  6. You were such good neighbors. We missed you when you moved and we still miss you. It helps knowing Jimmy is in the arms of our heavenly Father.

  7. Many wonderful memories of Brooks and Jimmy, our neighbors for many years. May God comfort you and give you peace in this time of sorrow. Love in Christ.
