Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Parker Larson, age 85 of Columbia, LA formerly of Daingerfield, TX, will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 30, 2012 from the sanctuary of Christ Episcopal Church in Jefferson, TX with Father David Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Daingerfield Cemetery in Daingerfield, TX. In lieu of flowers it was Mrs. Larson's wishes that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Parkinson Disease Association, the American Dyslexia Association or the charity of your choice. Mrs. Larson was born on March 22, 1927 in Abingdon, England to the union of Harry Norman Parker and Winifred May Gerring Parker and passed from this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at her residence. She was a well educated lady having attended Oxford University, Kilgore Junior College, East Texas Commerce, Texas A&M at Texarkana, TX and Northeast Louisiana University. Allowing her to become a teacher in French, Spanish and gifted and talented for Caldwell Parish and East Texas schools. She was a member of several organizations: Order of the Eastern Star, where she was the organist, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Theta Kappa (National Junior College Scholastic Society), and the Sigma Tau Delta. She was the organist and member of her church St. Charles Episcopal in Daingerfield, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Warren Larson and brother, Don Anthony Parker. Those left to cherish her memory include three sons: Brian Larson and wife, Beverly, Barry Wayne Larson and wife, Janell and Brett Larson; two daughters: Verdye Lackey and husband, Charles and Elizabeth Hatten and husband, Randy; brother, Barry Parker and wife, Sally; grandchildren: Laura, Lance, Lisa, Leanne, Lane, Tissa, Shelly, B.J., Rebecca, Beth, Chris, Caroline, Bryan, Brady and Wesley; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and several caregivers: Katie Cook, Gwen Williams, Kim Johnson, Melissa Bird, Carlene Forwood and Carla Lee. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Randy Hatten, Chris Hatten, Tye Ellerbe, Charles Lackey, Lance Lackey, Lane Lackey, Bryan Larson, Brady Larson and Trey Koch.
