Private graveside services for Mr. Joe Kemp, 82 of Lone Star, will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.

On March 1, 1938, Joe Louis Kemp was born to Perlie Mae Hall and Louis Kemp. They both preceded him in death. Joe was the oldest of all his siblings. He was born in Avinger, Texas. He attended school in Corrigan, Texas and graduated from W.W. Johnson High School in 1956. He enlisted in the Army in 1956 and served his county for two years as a medic and boxer. He married his first wife, Yvonne Harris in 1970 and they had one child, Lisa Nicole Kemp. They lived in Gardena, California and he worked for General Motors before entering the aircraft field as a sheet metal mechanic. He lived in California from 1958 until 2001. He planned his retirement from United Airlines and moved home to Lone Star, Texas in 2001. The biggest thing about Joe was his amazing personality. He had many domino buddies, if you didn't know how to play, he would teach you. You were gonna lose a whole lot before you won though. He said he "put the spots on the bones." He had another favorite pastime, and that was bowling. He bowled just about every day of the week in different bowling leagues.

Those left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Lisa Kemp (Marwin Agnew) of Lone Star, Texas; brothers, Tony Kemp, Ray Kemp (Jessie Kemp) all of Lone Star, Texas, Claude Kemp (Pollett Kemp); sisters, Rosie Marie Davis of Anaheim, California, Dorothy William (Elton Williams) of Cleveland, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews, Mt. Pilgrim church family, and a whole lot of friends.
