John Wesley Hall, 88, of Linden, Tx., passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 in a local nursing home. Mr. Hall was born January 3, 1926 in Linden, Tx., to William Ralph Hall and Annie Surratt Hall. He is retired from Lone Star Steel and served in the U.S. Army with many Decorations and Citations which include: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star Victory Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon Japan and 2 Overseas Service Bars. Survivors include one son, Van Hall of Linden; one daughter, Shirley Baker of Linden; four grandchildren: John Baker, Michael (Amanda) Baker, William Baker all of Linden, and Casey Hall of Texarkana; four great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Kendall, Camron and Bailee Baker all of Linden. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hall; his parents, William and Annie Hall; three brothers: Davis Hall, Lee Hall and Frank Hall and one sister, Vera Gaston. Services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday March 14, 2014 at the Linden United Methodist Church with Bro. James Knight officiating. Burial to follow at Center Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday March 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
