John Wilbur Johnny Wallace was born July 15, 1941 in Pittsburg, Texas and passed away February 25, 2016 in Hughes Springs. Johnny retired from Texas Northern Railway after 38 years, most of those years as superintendent of transportation. He has been a member of First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs for more than 60 years. He was a deacon, serving as secretary and treasurer. He has served in the music ministry for 50 years in various roles, from choir member to interim music director.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Elma Katherine Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Samples Wallace; sister, Carla Collins; children, Craig Wallace (Christina Wallace, Amanda Hartfiel, Aaron Wallace), Scott Wallace (Kari Wallace, Cody Wallace, Kasey Wallace), Wendy Middleton (Kent Middleton, Sina Middleton, Sean Middleton).
Services for Mr. Wallace will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs with Bro. Daniel Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Saturday evening at the funeral home.

  6. I was so sorry when I learned of Johnnys passing too late to come to the funeral because I would have certainly been there. I had the pleasure of working almost daily with Johnny and it was a distinct pleasure. He was so professional in his approach to everything. ALL of the top Managers respected his word on any issue regarding railroad transportation. What a fine Christian man he was.

  7. John W. was a Friend and co-worker for nearly 40 years at T&N RR. We went thru some good times and some hard times. Johnny was a good man and we will miss him.Rest in peace John W.
