Jonell Brown

Jonell Brown was born June 28, 1937 to the late Earl Edney and Laura Mae Jones (Puttillo). She was raised by her mother and late step-father, Jimmy Lee Puttillo. She passed away November 12, 2018. Jonell attended Victory High School. She worked for Day and Zimmerman Ammunition Plant in Texarkana before retiring to a nursing facility in Naples. She was a loving mother and a great provider for her children. She was a faithful church member until her health failed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra Faye Jimmerson; one son, Roy Edward Brown; two brothers, Leland Puttillo and Phylis Earl Edney; granddaughter, Freda Renea Brown (Barber); and step-daughter, Kaye Francis Brown.
Jonell is survived by four daughters, Gale(GW) Menefee of Hughes Springs, Kathryn (Jimmy) Gholston of Cason, Brenda (Walter) Powe of White Oak, Janice (JC) Brown of Daingerfield; one son, David Chris (Thalia) Brown; two step-daughters, Annie Pearl Brown of Hughes Springs, and Helen Delois Jetter of Dallas; ex-husband, Leroy Brown; best friend, Mildred Hanson; one brother, Gelnn Edney of Dallas-Fort Worth; five sisters, Eltha Edney, June Thomas, Lawanda Richey, Felicia Edney, all of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and Lessie Steward of Houston; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services for Ms. Brown will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Wallick Chapel Christian Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Brown will lie in state from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
