Kaye Wonnie (Gatson) Landers was born February 2, 1960 to Nettie Jewel and Jimmy Gatson in Woodlawn, Texas. She attended public schools in Marshall, TX and completed in Flint, Michigan. She accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Ministries in Flint, Michigan and was currently a member of Hughes Springs Community Church. She was a nursing assistant for over 25 years. Kaye enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, working and just enjoying life. Kaye was a caring and loving nurturer to all she met. Kaye Wonnie (Gatson) Landers departed this life on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 55. Kaye was preceded in death by parents, Nettie Jewel and Jimmy Gatson; two brothers, Earl Hawkins and Cecil Gatson. Kaye leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Edward Landers; four sons, Ronald Whitner of Flint, MI, Antoine (Christy) Whitner of Richmond, VA, Deon (Ta-Tanisha) Whitner of Jacksonville, NC, and Jamille (Resheema) Whitner of Hughes Springs; five brothers, Clinton (Melzora) Lloyd of Dallas, TX, Keith Gatson of Flint, MI, Danny Lewis of Karnack, TX, Perry Gatson of Lima, OH, Derek Gatson of Orlando, FL; four sisters, Mary (Joe) Holloman, Tonnia (Odis) Rushing of Hughes Springs, TX, LaQuetta Gatson of Flint, MI, Shanta (Jerry) Smith of Dallas, TX; fourteen grandchildren;; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends, including three very close and loving friends, Ms. Trisch, Christina Powell, and Theresa Nixon. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Landers will lie in state from Noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
