Funeral services for LaVerne Williams, 76, of Hughes Springs, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Neeley and Bro. Gary Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the funeral home. Joyce LaVerne Williams was born August 21, 1938 in Cass County, Texas and passed away October 23, 2014 at a Longview hospital. She started driving a bus for Hughes Springs ISD in 1975. She drove for 39 years and drove for three generations of children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Tennie Shaddix; son, Donald Glynn Williams; grandchild, Jason Fitzgerald; three sisters, Sue Gilmore, Sidney Brown, and Ruby Shaddix; brother, Coy Shaddix; and son-in-law, Mike Gregory. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald Williams; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Jerry Fitzgerald, Karen and Jerry Jones, Laurie and Dana Latham, Debbie Gregory and Jimmy Duncan; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Westmoreland and wife Alecia, Jerry Don Jones and wife Robin, Ashley Jackson and husband Cody, Shannon Latham, Joseph Fitzgerald, Trey Phillips, Jeron Brown and wife Jesse; ten great-grandchildren, Hunter Fitzgerald, Trapper Fitzgerald, Rebekah Jones, Jacob Jones, McKinley Westmoreland, Karter Westmoreland Jake Westmorland, Macy Stewart, Payton Kelley, and Texcee Kelley, a Special niece, Gloria Gilmore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

What a sweet lady Ms LaVerne has always been. There has to be a special place for anyone that would drive a bus full of rowdy kids for as long as she. You just knew how much she loved children, and we will miss those little jokes of hers. Praying that God gives you comfort & peace through this time.
Mrs. LaVerne was a special lady and always had a smile on her face. Prayers and love for the family. She will be missed by many.

If I could talk to LaVerne right now, I would say thank you for that big wave when we met each other on 250 N the other day. Family, she was a sweet lady and you have many memories to help you get through the years and she had the greatest laugh and smile and she is with her son and can you imagine the reunion. I am glad to say she was my friend. God Bless you.
