Lena Mae Lawton Hines was born January 20, 1938 in Morris County to the parentage of Booker T. Lawton and Arlena Lawton and passed away August 9, 2016. She attended J.J. Rhodes High School in Daingerfield where she completed her education.

Lena attended Wallick Chapel Christian Church where she served as Mother of Wallick Chapel under the leadership of Pastor Wayne Roberson and the late Alton Sasser. She was a former Eastern Star member.

Lena married Mack A. Hines, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by five brothers and two sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Carlin (David) Johnson of Daingerfield, Ruby (Bubba) Lawton of Dallas, Retha Lawton of Houston, Regina Lawton of Daingerfield, Deretha Yvonne Hines-Montgomery of Gladewater, Sandra Kay Hines-Smith of Longview; sons, Howard Brown of California, Thomas Lawton of Dallas, Mack Alvin (Nelly) Hines II of The Colony; sisters, Geneva Durham of Dallas, Emma Jean Love of California; brother-in-law, Nash Hines of Lone Star; her many grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services for Mrs. Hines will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Wallick Chapel. Burial will follow at Whitmore Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis funeral home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Hines will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
