Services for Linda Penny Staton, 71 of Linden, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Linden United Methodist Church, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the church. Mrs. Staton passed away March 3, 2016.Linda was born to Olan Alfred and Genie Mae Watson Penny on October 23, 1944 in Hughes Springs, TX; she was called Home on March 3, 2016. She grew up in Linden, TX; she graduated from Linden-Kildare High School in May 1963 and from Draughons Business School 1965.She married her wonderful husband David Michael Staton on December 5, 1964. They were blessed with their daughter Amanda in 1975. Linda was Secretary to the President of Home Furniture Company 1964-1975 and returned to work in 1993 when their daughter went to TCU. Linda received many awards during her career including Salesperson of the Year from Bassett Mirror and Crystal Clear Lighting. Linda returned to her childhood home in Linden, TX for retirement. Linda was active in her church and enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother cherished friend to many. She is survived by her husband David Staton and daughter, Amanda Staton. She was blessed with a large family; two sisters and their husbands, Joyce Penny Coy Sevier of New Boston, and Connie Penny Mack Skipper of Sachse; four brothers, James Alfred Susie Penny of Linden, Larry Glenn Penny of Linden, Tony Gerald Mary Penny of Lawrenceville, GA, Gary Olan Shari Penny of Richardson; her in-laws, Bob and Ann Staton of Dallas, and her sister-in-law, Kelly Arnold Penny. She loved her numerous nieces and nephews dearly. Included in her loving family are Uncle Robert Aunt Betty Penny, Aunt Merle Uncle Dickie McMinn, and Aunt Corniela Penny. Linda was a godmother to Kelly Brunson Martin, Brady Coulter Brunson, Rebecca Bacharach Simmons, and Brian Richard Bacharach. Linda wanted to express her love to her wonderful friends that she had for many years; Marilyn Womack Sims, Sue Boon Hill, Jackie Moffitt, Virginia Henry, Marti Brunson, Lenore Hunt, Lynda Bacharach. Linda loved life and loved being around people. She has been reunited with her beloved family members who have gone Home before her.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Linden Cemetery or the First United Methodist Church in Linden, TX.
