LINDEN TX- Funeral services for Lou Neva Gilbert, 87, of Linden, will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Linden with Rev. Greg Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc., of Linden. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gilbert was born July 1, 1924 in Douglassville to Omar and Ollie Burleson Parker. She died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Linden. She was a book keeper for Gilbert and Son Lumber Company and a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the childrens department for more than 50 years. Mrs. Gilberts hobbies included painting and crocheting. Her children and grandchildren were recipients of many of her beautiful paintings and afghans. On January 6, 1945, she married the love of her life, Ralph Gilbert. They were married for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Ronald Gilbert. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Gilbert of Linden; a daughter-in-law, Joy Gilbert of Linden; five grandsons and four granddaughters-in-law, Greg and Moriah Gilbert, Matthew Gilbert, Kevin and Kristy Gilbert, Mark and Renee Gilbert and Clay and Kristen Gilbert. In addition, she leaves nine great grandchildren, Keiffer, Jacob, Joshua, Taylor, Brian, Hannah, Justin, Jack and Juliet Gilbert and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to Childrens Dept., First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 179, Linden, TX 75563 or the Alzheimer's Association.
