Funeral services for Loy Montgomery, Jr., "Rabbit" 80, of Lone Star, will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Rev. Travis Bowie officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Montgomery was born September 13, 1934 to Loy Montgomery, Sr. and Tessie Smith and passed away August 19, 2015. On November 14, 1956 he married Brownie Sue Chisom and to this union three children were born. He attended the Morris County school systems in Daingerfield and joined Pollan Mill (now Jenkins Community) and Marble Stone C.M.E. Church. He retired from Lone Star Steel/T&N Warehouse (US Steel) as a heavy Machine Operator and joined many retirees in the 40 Year Club. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 58 years, Sue Montgomery; a son, Kenneth Montgomery; two daughters, Diane (Rickey) Montgomery-Jackson and Deborah Montgomery; two brothers, Laverne and Loy E. Montgomery; two sisters, Betty (Joseph) Glover and Eva Jimmerson; grandchildren, Kesha (Jermaine), Kendric (Lindsey), Jasmine, and Charlesia; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Kieron, Amiya, and Khloe; brothers-in-law, Coy E. Simmons, Jr., Robert, Gerald and richard Chisom; and a sister-in-law, Letha Simmons. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marva Simmons; brother-in-law, Lurie Jimmerson; and two sisters-in-law, Eunice Montgomery and Cathy chisom. Mr. Montgomery will lie in state Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
