Marlene Woods

November 11, 1931 ~ June 21, 2016
Mrs. Marlene Catherine Mangram-Woods was born the fifth child of Ruther, Sr. and Viola Reed-Mangram in the Faker Community, Camp County, Pittsburg, Texas.
She accepted Christ during the pastorate of the late Rev. Hezekiah A. Adams and became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church as a child. She was President of the choir, teacher, Superintendent of the church school and Treasurer of the church. She worked faithfully for the Lord until her health failed. Mrs. Woods worked as Secretary for the North East Texas Association and Congress. She was employed at Red River Army Depot and later was employed for Community Council of Daingerfield until she retired.
Marlene attended Garfield Elementary and Douglas High School and Jarvis Christian College of Hawkins. She married Archie Woods, Jr. in 1949 and to this union seven children was born. Mrs. Woods had a life long passion for caring and helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie Woods; daughters, Sandra Sue Woods, Koleta Manning Woods and Patricia Woods.
She leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Mickey (Mary) Woods of Cason, Cynthia Smith of Cason, Rosalyn Smith of Pittsburg, and Gwendolyn (Jesse Ray) Criss of Pittsburg; a grandson she raised, Randy (Sonya) Woods of Pittsburg; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
