Marvin Gholston

Mr. Marvin Gholston was born on July 30, 1928 to the parentage of Jim and Bell Gholston in Cason, Texas. Bro Marvin Gholston accepted Christ at Shady Grove Christian Church at an early age, he was a faithful member until his health failed him. Bro. Gholston crossed the bar to be with the Lord on January 28, 2013 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas. Mr. Gholston was united in marriage to Bobbie F. Smith on November 11, 1950. They were married for 62 years. To this union God blessed them with seven children: three sons, Melvin Gholston, of Arkansas, Harold Gholston (Linda) and Earnest Gholston, all of Pittsburg; four daughters, Marvelous Gholston, Barbara Gholston, Rachel Gholston, all of Cason, and Machelle McGary, of Dallas. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlesetta Gholston, of Midlothian, Texas, Valarie Smith, of Cason, and Bertha L. Rodgers, of Pittsburg.; as well as a loving host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the proud grandfather of 11 children & 14 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Gholston and Almond Gholston; five sisters, Napolean Doddy, A-Alice Woodard, Bennie Mae Searcy, Robert Jane Hollins, and Miley Henry. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Shady Grove Christian Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, of Hughes Springs. Mr. Gholston will lie in state from 10 a.m. unti 5 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
