On January 6, 2016 Marvin A. Parvino was selected by God to be gathered for his bouquet. There he will join those loved ones that have gathered before himHis wife LaVera Biddy and a son Billy Clayton. He was born on December 19, 1913 to William Boykin Parvino and Bertha Clayton Watson in Jefferson, Texas. The time between then and now could fill a book. He moved to Shreveport, LA as a toddler. He and friends started hopping trains at an early age and traveled all over the United States. He moved to Avinger, Texas when he was a teenager and met the love of his live. His early adult years were spent working in the local sawmills. The year before World War II he moved his family to Greggton, Texas. There he worked for Premier Oil Refinery until he entered the Army in 1944. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Greggton where he continued his job with Premier. In 1949 he went to work for Triangle Oil. He moved his family to McAllen, TX. He moved his family back to Avinger in 1950. He went to work at Lone Star Steel where he retired in 1987. He spent 26 years in city government as a councilman or Mayor. His spare time was spent in his garden or fishing. His Sundays were spent serving his Lord and Savior as a Deacon at The First Baptist Church in Avinger. He was a Master mason fifty plus years and a 32nd degree Scottish rite member. He leaves behind a loving familyone daughter Jonnie Cole and husband Charles of Dangerfield, Texas. One son Marvin Earl Parvino and wife Bonnie of Avinger. One granddaughter Debbie Cole Sanderfer and Husband Rex Four grandsons Randy Cole and wife Jennifer, Marvin S. Parvino, Danny Ray Parvino and wife Genice and Michael Parvino and wife Christy. Nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Parvino will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Avinger with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Avinger Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
