Funeral services for Mary D. Mathis, 93, of Hughes Springs, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Harris Chapel Methodist Church in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mary D. was born July 27, 1919 in Hughes Springs and passed away December 4, 2012 in Hughes Springs. Survivors include three sons, Dories Dude Mathis, of Welsh, La, Joe Mathis and wife Jane, and Doug Mathis and wife Vicki, all of Hughes Springs; one daughter Pinkie Scogin and husband Eddie Ray, of Frierson, La; nine grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Mathis; and parents Joe and Daisy McCain.

  5. She surely will be missed. My prayers go to the family during this holiday season. She was the nicest and sweetest lady. She came to every garage sale I had and my parents estate sale too. Now she is gone but with the Angels and I know she is one too now. God Bless and Love.

  6. Mary was good to me and made me feel extra special. As her mail lady, she feed me lots of pecans and shared her hugs with me. She holds a special place in my heart.
