On Wednesday, May 13, 2020 Mary Lou Huchel Lawless went to rejoice with her loved ones at the age of 79. Mary Lou was born in Lukin Township, Lawrence County, Il. on August 17, 1940 to Robert L. and Dorothy Huchel. She worked on her family’s farm where she learned the value of hard work and dedication, among her greatest attributes which she continued to apply to every aspect of her life. She married Ed Lawless on April 27, 1963 . She and Ed owned and operated several family businesses for over 40 years. They celebrated their 57th wedding  anniversary in 2020. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Norma Laib and Madge Cook, one son Bret Lawless, one grandson Chad Littlejohn, one great granddaughter Kaley Wilkerson, one great grandson Braylon Williams and one special family member Clay Samanie.
 
She is survived by her husband Ed Lawless, her son Jeff (Colette) Lawless, three daughters Brenda (James) Washington, Renee (Deriek) Eaves and Diana Lawless, her sister Wanda Richardson, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and her best friend of over 40 years, Diane Anderson. 
 
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020 at New Colony Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Lawless, Rev. Justin D. Terry and Bro. Claude Crocker officiating. Burial will follow in the New Colony Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
 
There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday May 20, 2020 at the funeral home.
 
The family welcomes flowers sent to them or a donation may be made to the New Colony Baptist Church in Mary Lou's memory.

  5. Grandma was Grandma to everyone. She was always so loving. I have many childhood memories in her den coloring and watching TV. Prayers for the entire family.

  6. I didn’t know your mom. Expect my parents did. Dad was born in Lawrence county. He and my mom lived around there most of their lives. I’m so sorry for your loss. What a long marriage they had. I hope God brings peace to all your family during this time.
