Graveside services for Melba Earthman, 92, will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Earthman Memory Gardens in Baytown, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Earthman was born August 4, 1919 and passed away April 11, 2012 in Hughes Springs. Melba was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hughes Springs, and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas for over 35 years. Preceding her in death are her husband Knowles Thomas Earthman; and one son Louis Kenneth Earthman. She is survived by one daughter Judy Brewster and husband Jerry; one brother Cecil Jack Miller; one sister Reba Jean Jeter; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a number of cousins nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to HeartsWay Hospice, P.O. BOX 5608, Longview, Texas 75608.

  7. Judy, read The Baytown Sun this morning and read the notice that Melba passed away. My deepest sympathy to each of you. I'm hoping to get to the cemetery tomorrow but wanted to send prayerful thoughts now. I remember when Knowles & Melba lived in Baytown and enjoyed visiting with them.Your dad was a 1st cousin to my mother, Viola(Cotten)Crook who passed away March 5th at 100. In case you don't remember, my grandmother was Nannie Kate(Earthman)Cotten, sister to your grandfather, William George Napoleon Earthman.
