Melvin Ray Townsend, Sr., 83, of Daingerfield, Texas passed away October 1, 2021. Mr. Townsend was born June 18, 1938 in Winnsobor, LA to Monroe Winston Townsend, Sr. and Leona Ezell Townsend. Melvin served his country proudly in the United States Air Force which he retired after 20 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Townsend; four children, Melvin Ray Townsend, Jr., Randall Winston Townsend, Cynthia Renee Staner, Cheryl Denise Townsend; four grandchildren, Timothy Townsend (LaWanda), heather Townsend, Derek Townsend (Ayanna), Hunter Staner; twelve great-grandchildren and two brothers, Monroe Winston Townsend, Jr. and Sonny Townsend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Leona Townsend, and two sisters, Ruth Ann Simpson and Merllean Kelly.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

My heart breaks for Mary Townsend and Melvin kids. He was a loving husband,father, grandfather, brother and cousin!! Melvin was always there for his family!! Will miss you very much!! Peggy Ezell!!
