Merle Watson Hamilton

Merle Watson Hamilton, 96, of Linden passed away June 11, 2020. Mrs. Hamilton was born May 17, 1924 to Tommy and Florence Watson. Merle was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, a homemaker, and volunteered with the Linden Hospital Auxiliary for over 25 years. She enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, and bowling with friends and family. She was not only a wonderful cook but she would make cookies for all the neighborhood kids.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James Coy Hamilton; daughter, Patti Marie; two grandchildren; her parents and a brother, Homer Watson.
She is survived by four sons and two daughter: Franklin Hamilton and wife Mary of Linden, Joe Hamilton and wife Jan of Bivins, Mike Hamilton of Linden, Jan Hamilton of Linden, Ann Johnson and husband Cotton of Linden, and Carolyn Griffin and husband Jim of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Morse; brother, J.E. Watson and wife Juanita; sister-in-law, Daisy Watson and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the Centergrove Cemetery with Bro. Bryan Baggett officiating and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
There will be a time of visitation from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Focused Care Nursing Home and Heritage Hospice for their kindness, caring attitude, and professional services while she was under their care.
