Mike Burton Sr

July 4, 1949 ~ September 24, 2015
Kris and Amy genuinely care about what they do. They helped our family so very much with the passing of our mother. Quality people performing at such an elevated level.
Kris and Reeder-Davis were a huge help during a very difficult time. They were compassionate, patient and determined to make our funeral arrangements as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I would recommend them to anyone needing a caring and understanding presence.
Making my Mom’s arrangements was one of the hardest things to do. But, Kris, Amy and the rest of the staff were amazing through it all.
I could not have asked for a better group of people to help me during this very rough time.
They are exceptional !!!

A very well kept establishment as well as very kind people. They make you feel welcome, cared for, and like you have a family outside of family.
The staff here becomes family. They are incredibly supportive and make sure everything is perfect! There is no better place!
When my 52 year old younger sister passed away we couldn't have fathomed the grief her 15 year old would be going through. She wanted to be involved in her mom's service planning Reeder-Davis employees were very patient and listened to her every wish. For that I am most grateful. Thank you for the services you provide our small community...we are blessed to have you as part of our town.
The best in the area!
Friendly and patient. Very professional & the expenses were reasonable. I recommend their services.

Very kind and compassionate people.
Years ago my parents made the decision that when their time came they wanted Reeder Davis to handle their burial services, So as hard as it is to lose your parents their time to go did come and when it did, We relied on Reeder Davis to help our family through the arrangements that needed to be made and all I can say is their commitment, compassion and their understanding made such a difficult process much easier. Our funeral director Amy, from our first meeting to our last was so kind, She shared in our laughter of funny memories and she shared in our tears seeing our grief. My sister suddenly passed away a month after my dad and again, Kris and Amy were there to help us and we were so grateful. Kris, Thank you for the care you gave to us and for being so kind and thoughtful. I will never forget everything that all of you did for my family .
Reeder handled my father in laws services and did it with so much compassion. We were at a loss with what to do first and Amy was amazing at guiding us. They treated us just like family and we will always be grateful for that.
For such as sad occasion we could not have asked for any better. The facilities were great, the staff very caring. Everyone did everything possible to make this the best experience possible. Even the slideshow had a personal touch that was initiated by the staff. I am so very grateful for the care and services we received.

Kind, caring folks that truly understand the grief you bear, and help you move forward in what is a difficult situation that we all have or will experience.
They took excellent care of both my mother and father. My wife and I have already prearranged our funerals with them. They are the best.

From the time they picked up my wife from the hospital and then through the entire process and even today, they have remained friendly, courteous, and most helpful with all our needs. Working with our insurance, planning the service, providing helpful suggestions, and taking care of tiny details we had not thought Reeder-Davis Funeral Home was wonderful, and Mary was so professional, one of the best. Their care made our loss a little easier to bear. Thank you so much, James Bynum & Family
I just want to thank the staff at Reeder Davis for handling my mothers’s final arrangements beautifully. Kris was extremely compassionate and helpful throughout this untimely and unexpected event. Everything was flawless and exactly how my mother would have wanted her final wishes carried out. Planning a funeral is never easy but it definitely helps when your loved one is in the care of caring and professional hands. Thank you 🙏 Shawna
I have seen personally, the Reeder Davis Family treats your loved ones with as much love and respect as you would. What more could we ask? Thank you RD for your devotion to making the worst days easier.

Reeder-Davis is the most caring place I can imagine in a time of need. The staff is second-to-none!
These people are the greatest. They have always made me feel like family. Thank y'all for being so wonderful. God bless y'all
I have never had a bad experience at RD, from making programs for our church or giving advice in whatever way they can.
The McKinney, The McCain, & The Hill Families would like to sincerely thank the staff at Reeder Davis in Hughes Springs for the excellent services they provided to us in the death of our Mama, Dorothy McKinney. Mary went above & beyond in helping us to prepare our Mama for visitation. Amy helped us in each & every need that we had. You could not ask for a kinder man at the cemetery than Wayne. To each person that helped, we appreciate ALL that you did... Thank you, again!
It has the most comfortable feel about it. Everyone treats you like you are family and have so much compassion and empathy . I love Amy & Kris and all of the others also.
Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. in Linden and Chris were there for me and my family when Keith passed away. Chris is so caring and thoughtful and was able to help me make it through the entire process of caring for Keith and my family until the final burial. He made the journey of death so much easier by his respect for our needs and his compassion for our pain and sorrow. I have known his staff for a long time and they also helped lighten our sorrow by their outpouring of love and compassion. Reeder-Davis also took care of my precious mom when she passed away three years after Keith. I still hug Chris and thank him whenever I can for helping me through losing loved ones.
Very nice service. We were well satisfied.

Chasing My MemoriesThis is one chapter from my book, "Chasing My Memories" that Ive written which includes about 7 memories of Mike. The ending of each of these chapters continue where the last one left off. Im just glad that I had sent these to Mike to read and received his laughter and nod of approval! "E.M.B." For two agonizing days, I wracked my brain on how to properly introduce this particular brother to the pages of this chronicle and to you, the reader. So, with all the honors and accolades that I wish to bestow upon him, it is with poisoned, oops…I mean SACRED pen in hand, that I hereby introduce my brother – Eddie Michael Burton.I also hereby declare to reveal nothing but loving, honorable, dignified memories with the UTMOST respect – of which he so richly deserves!Mike was born on the Fourth of July! Guess you could say, that it was his way of promising Mom…and the rest of us, that he was gonna be some kinda firecracker! And believe me, he lived up to that reputation and unspoken promise! Laughter was the key that Mike held to captivate my childish heart and his goal in life was to make me laugh and my laughter often rewarded his ability to do so! Guess you could say that laughter reigned in my life…and he was the King of Jokers!Unlike other kids, his favorite cartoon character wasnt Superman or even Batman, no, no, they werent!…it was The Joker and The Riddler! He was not prejudice nor did he discriminate – everyone fell prey to his jokes and pranks! A kindred spirit-thats what we became and still are! Why, with him being born on the 4th of July and me almost on Halloween, it was firecrackers and trick or treat almost every day of the year! Yes, life shared with him was gonna be fun and I meant to find out just how much, so whenever the opportunities presented themselves (and I made sure they did!) I would contentedly tag along after him just like the family pet pup would do! (Whether he wanted me to or not!)Now, youll have to realize, that I was but a mere child, who didnt know any better than to walk around with undeniable adoration radiating from my face like the shining beacon of a lighthouse! And so it was, on one such fateful day, as my "bombardment of adoration" was raining down upon him, this "shining beacon" lit up his blue eyes and illuminated his brain to the beneficial words: "Chance – Opportunity It was then, Im sure, that my brother became the first "Teenage Entrepreneur" to EVER walk (more like prowl) the streets of Chillicothe! He had made the auspicious decision to become the benefactor of my childhood education!Yes, he would teach his baby sister the most important skills that she would need to know in life for survival!..fishing, seining for minnows, hunting night crawlers, riding a bike, how to play a guitar and later on, he tried to teach me how to drive…which didnt work out to well for any of us! (Umm…yeah, right!)His smooth talking, deceitful tongue convinced me, that at my age, I was more agile, graceful, quick and lighter on my feet and could perform any task at the snap of his fingers! To prove his point, he would constantly put me through the required drills of fetch & find as he graded me on time and precision with which it took to retrieve the object which he had assigned to my care.
