Mona Lisa Martaindale, age 74, of Ore City, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025.
Born on September 13, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mona was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, John Martaindale, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and strong family bonds.
Mona was one of a kind—an old-fashioned, straight-talking, stubborn, loving, loud, unfiltered, honest, and fair woman. She was proudly independent and deeply God-fearing. Born and raised in Louisiana, she was a true coona** through and through—fierce, loyal, and full of spirit. She told you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not, and she always did it out of love. Her strength and boldness were matched only by her deep care for her family.
Mona is survived by her devoted husband, John Martaindale. She was a proud mother to Lisa McGuire and husband James, Marsha Price and husband Kevin, Elizabeth Lambert and husband Larry, Harvey Lamkin, Glenda Carr and husband Junior, and Ginger Oller and husband Jeff. She was also a loving stepmother to Latricia Martaindale, Shawna Wooten, and Billy Martaindale and wife Sarah. Mona adored her grandchildren, Victoria Rittiman and husband Tristan, Alan Carr and wife Kyla, Emma Allen and husband Braxton, Ricky Pierce, Brittany Pierce, Emiley Brown and husband Robert, Jessica Vickers and husband Josh, Tiffany Yahr and husband Timothy, James McGuire and wife Sarah, Tyler McFadden and wife Raegan, Savanah McFadden, Caden Lambert, Donny Allen, Michael Allen, Hailey Lamkin, Carter Lamkin, Coby Arnold, Makayla Hicks and husband Stephen, and Tyler Burks and wife Mary. Mona was also blessed with numerous step-grandchildren, including Jonna Martaindale, Chelsey and Mitchell Morgan, William Blake, Becca and Zane Shaw, and Leslie Michell. She was also blessed with 42 great-grandchildren and one cherished great-great-grandchild, each one cherished and loved beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mickey Shannon, and her great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Pierce.
