Mr. Morris Debron Hatten was born September 4, 1932 in Hughes Springs (Cass County) Texas to the parentage of Debron and Willie Mae Hatten, Sr. At an early age Morris D. Hatten accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. While attending Liberty United Methodist Church where the Word of God was preached. While a member, he served in the choir and was a very, very strict usher. He joined a quartet group that his Uncle Bonnie Barnes started. They performed on the radio station in Mt. Pleasant, Texas very often. He just loved to sing period. Then there came a time where he was called upon to do something on a grandeur scale. Daddy, along with his four brothers joined our countries Armed Forces where they took an oath to Defend this Country Against all Enemies Both Foreign and Domestic. He was inducted as Private First Class serving from March 4, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on February 4, 1955. The time served was a year and eleven months. Sixteen months and nine days of this time was served in the Korean War at the Thirty-eighth parallel where he with brothers in Arms fought at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill during the spring and summer of 1953. When Morris returned home from the war he met and married the woman of his dreams, Precilla Faye Traylor. They were joined in marriage on June 6, 1960. They were married for 54 years. Following the union of love, six children were born. He is survived Anthony & (Rosalind) Hatten, grandchildren Elijah & Mariah Hatten of Houston, Texas; Gerald & (Yolanda) Hatten, grandchildren Kerry Hatten, Ashia Hatten, great-grandchild Jayden Johnson, Kaytaisa and Davunta Hatten of Hughes Springs, Texas; Melanie & (Kevin) Johnson, grandchildren Morrisa Hatten, great-grandchild Malik Hatten, Daniel Hatten, great-grandchild Maddox Hatten, Christina, Isaac Johnson of Gladewater, Texas, Whitney & (Nicole) Hatten, grandson Jacordris Hatten of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter LaCara Johnson, great-granddaughters Ziyana, Aloyia, and Zayde Johnson of Texarkana, Texas; Carmella Hatten, grandchildren Adriana and Anthony Hatten of Hughes Springs, Texas. He is also survived by one sister Mary & (Vernice Hill); one brother Debron Jr. & (Helen) Hatten of Hughes Texas; Carl & (Bessie) Hatten. He is preceded in death by an infant son Tracy Hatten; his parents Debron and Willie Mae Hatten, Sr.; three sisters Elsie Adams, Evelyn Peppers, and Shirley Johnson; two brothers James Hatten and Bobby Hatten. He is very blessed to have so many nieces, nephews, cousins and extremely close relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Hatten will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the funeral home.

What a wonderful man. Always smiling, always with a hug to offer. Mr. Hatten always made my heart feel full. I have loved many of his kids throughout the school years. He leaves a legacy of beautiful people. I know he will be missed.
