Mozelle Moon

Funeral services for Ms. Mozelle Moon, 89, of Ore City, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Murry League Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Ms. Moon will lie in state for viewing from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at the funeral home.

Mozelle Moon was born on July 8, 1936, to the late Willie and Nettie Moon in Gilmer, Texas. She attended Mt. Enterprise School in Gilmer, where she was a straight-A student with dreams of becoming a school teacher.

She was united with Murry League Baptist Church, where she was a devoted and active member, serving faithfully in the church and as a beloved member of the Murry League Choir. Her dedication and love for the church community were evident in her years of faithful worship and service, which continued until her health declined.

Mozelle transitioned peacefully at the age of 89 on January 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by her sweet presence, steadfast faith, quiet resilience, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

She was the youngest of six children, all of whom preceded her in death: four sisters, Woodie Mae Veasley, Odessa Moon, and Nell Stevens, all of Ore City, Texas, and Vera Brantley of Houston, Texas; and one brother, Eugene Moon of Ore City, Texas.

Mozelle Moon leaves to cherish her precious memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
