Myra Nell Strawn, 66, of Daingerfield, was born June 3, 1957 in Pittsburg, Texas to Hobert and Mittie Hester Brooks. She passed away August 16, 2023. Myra married Stephen Strawn on September 24, 1995. She loved her family, gardening, baking, and playing pranks on everyone. Myra was a strong, independent, resilient woman, who was always willing to help anyone.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Carlton Brooks, Carroll Brooks, Marrion Brooks Condo, Martha Brooks Smith, Jerry Brooks, Patsy Brooks and Eugene Brooks; grandson, Chris Dunn Donihoo; and numerous other relatives.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Strawn; children, Tonya Whited and husband Jimmy, Larry Donihoo and Michele; grandchildren, Sadge Chapman, Tiara Bernon and husband Michael, Kaylia Chavez and husband Chris, Michael Carpenter and wife Kristin, Dusty Donihoo, Dharbi Donihoo, Diego Donihoo, Dusty Whited and wife Hana, Chris Moss, Julian Moss, and Kainan Moss; 11 great-grandchildren; ex son-in-law, Roger Chapman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A time of viewing and visitation for Mrs. Myra will be 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, August 26, 2023 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs.

  1. Candle 2I was so sorry to hear that Myra has passed away. I only met her once, but she said we were sisters. I hugged her, and said yes, we are. Hugs for all the family.

  2. Candle 1I worked with Myra a very long time. We worked at Villa Visiting Nurses in Mt Pleasant. I loved Myra. We had recently been Messaging back and forth on Facebook. She was the most precious soul I have ever worker with. My Daughter Keena also thought the world of Myra. Rest in Peace my sweet friend. You have always been such a hard worker. I will see you again. Prayers for all the Family.
