Myrtis Abernathy

Services for Myrtis Edna Abernathy, 82, of Hughes Springs, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Rev. Dan McGuire and Rev. David Snelson officiating. Interment will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Abernathy died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at a Rowlett hospital. She was born July 13, 1924 in Hughes Springs. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Paul Abernathy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Wayne Caldwell of Rowlett; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Deborah Abernathy of Hughes Springs; two brothers, Elwyn Smith of Hughes Springs and LeRoy Smith of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, JoAnn Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the funeral home and the family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m.
