Nancy Ellen Allen

Surrounded by loved ones, Nancy Ellen Allen, 89, of Linden, Texas, passed away peacefully September 22, 2019. Mrs. Allen was born August 12, 1930 in Oklahoma City, OK to Otis and Gladys Taylor. Nancy grew up in Dallas, married and started a family.
She was a faithful Christian servant at First Cumberland Presbyterian in Dallas for many years before moving to East Texas, where she was the pianist at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church in Hughes, Springs, TX for more than 30 years. She worked for the Cass County Extension Office and the county Tax Assessor's office and in retirement was active in the local chapter of Eastern Star.
Nancy loved games of any kind, was a champion ping pong player at Southwestern Life Insurance Company in Dallas and enjoyed playing Forty-Two, cards and Yahtzee with friends and family throughout her life. She was an avid vegetable gardener and would not allow anyone to have an empty stomach or cold hands and feet.
She is survived by three sons, Ron Allen and wife Sharon of Linden; Gary Allen of Texarkana, TX; and John Allen and wife Sherri of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Crimson Allen of Dallas, TX; Sarah Davidson and husband Adam of Houston, TX; and Orion Allen of Linden; five great-grandchildren, Darby Gough of Dallas, TX; Sawyer Davidson of Houston, TX; Fisher Davidson of Houston, TX; and Mattix Allen of Atlanta, TX; and Kallie Minor of Texarkana, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Gladys Taylor; and her husband of 67 years, J.P. Allen.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Gleaner Baptist Church with Bro. Les Colley officiating. Burial will follow at the Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

I worked at the tax office with Ms. Nancy for years. She was such a sweet soul. She will be greatly missed. Prayers for the whole family. So sorry for your loss.
