Funeral services for Neva Nell Chastain, 86 of Rusk, formerly of Harleton, will be Thursday, May 8, 2014 beginning at 11:00 am at Smyrna United Methodist Church in Diana.. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Ore City. There will be no formal visitation. She was born in James, Texas on March 20, 1928 to Floy May and Jackson Monroe Baker. She entered Heavens gates on May 4, 2014. Neva Nell had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Smyrna Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Evelyn Bailey, Jack Baker, J.D. Baker, William Baker, Donald Baker, Richard Baker, Jeanette Wisener Berry and Sarah Hood. Neva Nell is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mike and Sherry Chastain , David and Barbara Chastain, Alan and Patsy Chastain, and Sheila and Roger Rowe; her four grandchildren, Sean Lawson, Candace Bush, Sarah Randall, and David Rex Chastain; as well as seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Smyrna Cemetery Association at 292 Smyrna Cutoff, Diana, Texas 75640.

I remember when we used to visit with all of you after you moved from Ore City to Harleton, as she and my Mother were good friends. And I want to also express my appreciation to Alan at this time for your assistance with the headstone for my own father's grave just a few months ago. God be with you all.

  8. I did not know Mrs. Chastain, but her son, Mike and his wife, Sherry were my husband and my neighbors in a trailer park in Kilgore in 1975. They were very good neighbors.I am so sorry for your loss, Mike and Sherry.
