Patricia Brewer

January 16, 1935 ~ March 18, 2020
Patricia Lynn Brewer 85, of Alpine, Oregon passed away peacefully at Grace Hill Nursing Home in Hughes Springs Texas, on March 18, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Patricia Brewer was born January 16, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred and Opal Dodds. She grew up in Lebanon, Oregan and later attended Oregon State University where she met her first husband, Wes Wetzel. As the wife of a U.S. Naval Officer, she moved her family to several locations in California, Texas and the island of Guam. She was a homemaker and raised four children. The family finally settled in San Diego, California after her husband’s numerous tours of duty in Vietnam. When her children were older, she took a job as a bookkeeper for South Bay Auto Parts.
She later married Rick Brewer and they moved to Alpine in 1988, where she retired. During her marriage to Rick, they enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. They spent many years together and enjoyed taking in rescue animals.
In 2007, she was diagnosed with the onset of Alzheimer’s and over the next 10 years, Rick was her caregiver and looked after her as the disease progressed. In 2015, Rick passed away and Pat’s children moved her to Texas be near family.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Julie (Tom) Miller of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Andy (Kathy) Wetzel of Austin, Texas; daughter, Kim (Bruce) Laigle of Hughes Springs, Texas; son, Chris Wetzel of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tim (Erin) Laigle, Lyndee (Josh) Hinton, Bailey Wetzel and Thomas Wetzel.
She will be laid to rest later this summer in a small cemetery in Alpine, Oregon along side her husband, Rick and her mother, Opal.
