Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Owens, age 77, of Hughes Springs, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs, with Bro. Chris Cates and Bro. Shiles Hubbell officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Patricia Elaine McDaniel Owens was born January 23rd, 1948, to Oran McDaniel and Velda M. Adams McDaniel. Patricia was called home June 24th, 2025. Patricia was lovingly known as (Patsy) to her family and friends. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Hughes Springs where she was also a member of WOW, Women of Worship. For over 20 years she was a postal carrier for Hughes Springs and loved her route and made lots of longtime friends. Patsy never met a stranger and loved to talk. She also loved to work in the yard and plant Gerber daisies and roses, her favorite flowers. Her yard won Yard of the Month several years. Patsy was very patriotic; she loved the military and anything red, white, and blue.

Patsy was preceded in death by her father and mother and one sister, Brenda McDaniel Nicholson. Also, her pets she loved dearly: Bosco, Mickey, Roxie, Schnook, and Simba.

Patsy was married to Horace Allen Owens on September 19th, 1964; they were married for 60 years. Together they had two sons: Rodney/Beverly Owens of Hughes Springs, Bryan Owens of White Oak; brother Doug/Sue McDaniel of Hughes Springs; four grandchildren: Allen Ray Owens and fiancée Kayla, Cody Owens of Denton, Ryan/Joey Bohn of White Oak, Stephanie Swank Martinez of Manassas, Virginia; four great-grandchildren: Harley Wise of Marshall, Virginia, Kira Wise and Garrett Wise of Evans, Georgia, and Weston Whiteside and fiancée Emily of Fairfield; two great-great-grandsons: Rolland Robert Bohn and Waylon Whiteside of Fairfield.

Nephews: Toby McDaniel and fiancée Kim of Hughes Springs, Joby/Brynn McDaniel of Hughes Springs, John/Goldie Edwards of Hughes Springs, and James/April Edwards of Hughes Springs, Donald/Kim Nicholson of Diana; and niece: Twyla/Scott McCormick of Longview; and great-nephews: Dustin Nicholson of Diana, Trey, Tristan, and Tyler Edwards of Hughes Springs.

Patsy loved her family and friends, especially Mary Lou Duncan, Gina Campbell, and Murray Lynn Gibson, and a very special daughter, Anna Sue Mathis of Hughes Springs.

Patsy will surely be missed.

Patsy, you will be missed by so many and especially me and my family…you were one of us for a long, long time and you will always and forever be in my (our) hearts. we have great and fun memories of all our times together.
