Peggy Westmoreland Stark

Peggy Ann Westmoreland Stark was born on July 23, 1953 to E.M. and Marjorie Westmoreland, in Texarkana, and went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2021.  She married Thomas Lee Stark, Jr. on March 21, 1972 in Hughes Springs, TX and together they raised two children, Jennifer and Tara, in Lake Charles, LA.  Peggy moved back home to Hughes Springs after the death of her husband in 1997, where she became the smiling face and manager of Greg's Miracle Mart and Subway. 
 
Peggy was a member of Cross Roads  Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended with her family, and was actively involved.  She loved the Lord and her family, and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Peggy was an active dancer, and loved to line dance with "her girls" as she fondly called them.  She also had a beloved dog, named D.A. that was a perfect companion.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Stark, Jr.; daughter, Kelley Kasondra Stark; mother, Marjorie Westmoreland; brother, Danny Joe Westmoreland; 2 nephews, Roger Dale Westmoreland, Jr. and Joseph Dale 'JoJo" Westmoreland and her best friend, Debbie Higginbotham.
 
She is survived by her daughters; Jennifer Ellis and husband John, Tara Tims; father, E.M. Westmoreland and wife Phyllis, brother Roger Westmoreland and wife Paula, sister Debbie Dennis and husband Bradley, brother Derek Wasson and wife Kathy, sister Chantay Crews and husband Don, sister Whitney Treadway, sister-n-law Darlene Westmoreland Owens and husband Mike, grandchildren Daniel, Sean, & Lucy Stark, Callie, Cassidy and Cason Tims, and 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her co-workers at Miracle Mart.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Bro. Daniel McGuire officiating.  Burial to follow in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs.

There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Cross Roads Baptist Church.

  8. My heart breaks knowing such a sweet and kind person has left us. Peggy was my childhood buddy I played with on East Fourth Street in HS. We played hard like kids use to do in the dirt and exploring the woods behind my house. I got to see her twice last year, and I Thank God for those times. I am sure my parents welcomed her to heaven as they loved her like all of us did. Bye for now, but we will see you again when God calls us home.
