Services for Precilla Faye Traylor-Hatten will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Reeder-Davis Chapel.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Fumersal Home in Hughes Springs.

Precilla Faye Traylor was born February 21, 1940 in Camp County, Pittsburg, Texas to the parentage of Melvin Bruce "MB" Traylor and Eunice Rivers Rhymes.  While living and growing up in Pittburg, Texas.  She attended Frederick Douglas all black high school.  Education was very important to her, as she graduated with honors in 1958.

It was truly love at first sight when Morris D. Hatten met Precilla Traylor after returning home from war.  Theirs was a short courtship and they were married on June 6, 1960.They became members of Liberty United Methodist Church until the church dissolved. To their union of love six children were born.  She is survived by Anthony (Rosalind); grandchildren, Elijah and Moriah Hatten of Houston; Gerald (Yolonda) Hatten of Hughes Springs; grandchildren, Kerry Hatten; great grandchild, Kerry Hatten, Jr. of Dallas; grandchild, Ashia Hatten; great grandchild Jayden Johnson, Lone Star; grandchild, Da'vante Hatten and Kaytashia Hatten of Hughes Springs; Melanie (Kevin) Johnson, Gladewater; grandchild, Morrissa Hatten; great grandchild, Malik Hatten of Gladewater; grandchild, Daniel Hatten; great grandchild, Maddox Hatten of Gladewater; grandchild Christina Johnson of Gladewater; grandchild, Isaac Johnson; great grandchildren, Elaina Willow Johnson of San Diego, CA; son, Whitney Hatten of Dallas; grandson, Jacordris Hatten of Naples; granddaughter, LaCara Johnson; great granddaughters, Ziyana, Aloyia, Zayde Johnson and Carmella Hatten; granchildren, Adriana and Anthony Hatten both of Hughes Springs; her sisters, Helen Smith of Pittsburg, Karen Rymes and Audrey Holloman of Houston, Celie Roberson of Waco, Neta (Lee) of Hughes Springs, Kathy Johnson, Sherry Traylor of Pittsburg; and a brother, Willie Traylor, of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Tracy Hatten; her father, "M.B." Traylor; mother, Eunice Rhymes; brothers, Robert Rhymes, Billy Rhymes, Bruce Traylor and Tony Traylor; infant sister, Valerie; and step father, Mule Rhymes.

She was blessed to have so many nieces, nephews, cousins and extremely close relatives and amazing friends who will miss her so much.

There will be a time of visitation from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.

  2. Ms. Priss (as we called her) was one of my favorite patients and it brightened my day to see her. She loved my singing and would always compliment me and ask me to sing for her. She was a big flirt and always made me smile with her comments and humor. I will miss her so much. God bless her soul and give comfort to her family.

  6. Mrs. Hatten was one of the best ladies that I had the pleasure to work with at Hughes Springs High School. I always loved talking to her. Heaven is blessed to have this great lady, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved the lord, and always exemplified that to all. To the Hatten family, you are in our family’s thoughts and prayers.
