Raymond Montgomery

Services for Mr. Raymond Montgomery, 77, of Lone Star, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Raymond Montgomery was born on March 25, 1942 in Marion County to the parentage of the late Manse and Lannie Montgomery. He passed away May 7, 2019.
Raymond accepted Christ at an early age and united with Rock Island United Methodist Church. Later in life he united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Mr. Montgomery graduated from Victory High School in Marion County, Texas in 1960.
He united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Alice, in 1960 and to this union two children were born. He retired from T&N Warehouse after 36 years of dedicated service.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lannie and Manse Montgomery; two brothers, Todd Montgomery and his twin brother, Naymond Montgomery; one sister, Armer Montgomery; and nephews, David McKinney and Derek Walker.
He leaves to mourn, his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Alice Anderson Montgomery of Lone Star, Texas; one daughter, Angela Brown (Gerald) of Tyler, Texas; one son, Jerry Montgomery (Alicia) of Mesquite, Texas; three grandchildren, Davina Moore of Tyler, Texas, O'Brien Montgomery and Aaleyah Montgomery of Mesquite, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Zakaylah, Zaniya, and Christopher, Jr. of Tyler, Texas; sisters, Ernestine Montgomery, Ozene Bryson, Izetta Montgomery, Deser Walker (Alvoid, Sr.); sisters-in-law, Polly Montgomery, Claudine Jackson, Lilly Pearl Johnson, Betty Hicks, Barbara Lynn, and Ernestine Anderson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Uncle Raymond there wasn't to many days that went by that I didn't see and talk with you. I truly miss the conversations and guidance. I'll never forget how you could make me laugh. Lord knows we didn't think that you wouldn't be gone from us so soon. I love you and look forward to reuniting with you and daddy again, your nephew Nay Jr.
