A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Ricky Lynn Mitchell, age 63, of Daingerfield, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Ricky Lynn Mitchell was born May 14, 1962, in Linden, Texas to Charles Mitchell, Jr. and Lula Mae Kersey. He passed away, too soon, in Dallas, Texas on July 15, 2025.
Ricky was a man whose heart was as generous as it was kind. Known for his selflessness, he would give anyone the shirt off his back without hesitation. His warmth and compassion touched all who knew him.
Ricky had a deep love for music. A talented drummer and devoted disc jockey, he brought joy to countless events by coordinating bands and sharing the gift of music with his community. His rhythm and passion will echo in the hearts of those who danced to his beat.
In keeping with his giving nature, Ricky chose to be an organ donor. His family takes great pride in knowing that his legacy continues through the lives he has saved and the hope he has given to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Mitchell, Jr., and Lula Mae Kersey; three sisters: Vera Ann Mitchell, Cathy Mitchell, and Mary Lou Henderson. He is survived by two daughters: Jessica Dill and Nicole Michaels; two grandchildren: Jace “Ruffie”, and Marley; six sisters: Lula Dell Field, Edna Mae Bowers, Ida Mae Hyde, Charlotte Brossett, Louanne Hendrickson, Sherry Hendrickson; five brothers: Carroll Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, Larry Kersey, C.P. Kersey, Peanut Hendrickson; several nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.
Ricky will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loved ones and all whose lives he touched.
