Services for Rita Gay Welch Mims, 73, of Garland, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation 11:00 a.m. and lasting till service time.
Ms. Mims was born August 12, 1943 in Hughes Springs and passed away January 22, 2017 in Rockwall, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Vera Welch; and seven siblings, Faye, Tommy, Jessie Mae, Willo Jean, Joy, Sally, and Frank.
She is survived by her children, Russell Truitt Mims and wife, Joie of Rockwall, and Angela Twedell and husband, Michael of Arlington; faithful dog, Sadie my Lady; grandchildren, Holly Zerfas and husband, Jake, Amy Smith and husband, Eric, Jessica Cheek, Matthew Cheek, Madeline Shank, and Cameron Mims; great grandchildren, Payton Sullivan, Paige Floutin, Trenton Cheek, Preslee Cheek, Cayden Alexander, and Adelyn Zerfas; siblings, Rose Mary Borden and husband, Ted of Avinger, Purvis Welch and wife, Theda of Garland, Sammie Nelson and husband, Terry of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
