Robert Sam Surratt, our beloved daddy and Paw-Paw passed away November 27, 2019 at his home in Linden, Texas after a lengthy illness.  We rejoice in knowing he is now healed and with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Mr. Surratt was born March 21, 1923 in Linden, Texas to James Hardy Surratt and Alma Holland Surratt.

Mr. Surratt was a Baptist and a member of Gleaner Baptist Church in Linden.  He served in the United States Army during WWII as an Army medic and he later retired after 35 years with United Transport.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and James Hardy Surratt; four sisters, Ruby Sapp, Maxine Williams, Nora Surratt, Verdie Mae Perry; four brothers, Russell Surratt, AC Surratt, Reed O’Neil Surratt, Morris Surratt and one great-grandson, Tyler Willis.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Jimmeye Sue Moore and husband James of Texarkana, TX; son, Robert Wayne Surratt and wife Cheryl of Linden, TX; siblings, Tommie Allen of Linden, TX, Gladys Marsh of Atlanta, TX, Carl and Mary Ann Surratt of Linden, TX; four grandchildren, Christine Amos, Karen Cox, Norman Cook Jr., Raymond Cook; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended bonus family, Pastor and Mrs. Worley and sons, Jack and Carter.

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Gleaner Baptist Church with Dr. E.L. Sharp and Bro. Worley officiating.  Burial to follow in the Center Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.

    I’m so sorry to hear about your dad and grandfather. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are out of town until the evening of Monday, December 2. If there is anything you want or need me to do, please Let me know. Try to remember, he is so much better now.
