Ronald David Knight, 78, of Jenkins, Texas passed away Sunday, January 4th with family by his side. He was born June 9th, 1936 in Naples to Herbert Burnice and Dovie Tigert Knight. Mr. Knight was the oldest of seven, with five brothers and one sister. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was an Air Policeman. He served tours in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Upper Heyford, England. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Mr. Knight went to work as a mechanic and retired from Lone Star Steel. He also spent 35 years as a volunteer firefighter in his community. Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dean Vaughn Knight of Jenkins; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sandy Knight of Rocky Branch; one granddaughter Kayla and her husband Garrett Williams of Linden, two grandsons, Dylan Knight of Tyler, and Alex Knight of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had one sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and Bobby Joe Johnson of Jenkins; four brothers, Gerald Knight and wife Dorothy of Naples, Rick Knight and wife Brenda of Grand Prairie, Tom Knight and wife Pennie of Naples, and Charles Knight of Dallas. Mr. Knight is preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Jim Knight; and step-son, Kenneth Heard. Visitation for Mr. Knight will be Wednesday January 7th from 6 to 8pm at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Services will be Thursday January 8th at 10am at Springhill Church in Rocky Branch. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to your local volunteer fire department or Heart to Heart Hospice in memory of Mr. Knight.

  2. Mrs. Dean & Kevin, I was saddened by the news of Mr. Knight's passing. He fought hard over the last several months. He is now walking again with Jesus in Heaven. Please know I am praying for you all during this very difficult time.
