Funeral services for Mr. Royce Leon Armstrong, 74 of Harleton, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Ore City. Burial to follow at Crockett Cemetery in Harleton, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Royce Leon Armstrong was born June 19, 1940, to the parentage of Grover Armstrong and Ona Mae Rice-Armstrong in Marion County. Leon educated in Marion County and graduated from Macedonia High School in 1958. Leon accepted Christ and was baptized at Ore City Church of Christ. Leon Armstrong moved to Dallas, Texas; where he met and married the love his life Bennie Jewel Crockett on February 15, 1962. They enjoyed 53 years together and three children were born. Leon was truly a family man ensuring that his wife, children and grandchildren always had the best and encouraged each one to be the best. As a devoted father and grandfather he always made every effort to be at every event that each of them where participating in. Leon was an avid sports fan of all Dallas area teams and a history enthusiastic. After working over 50 years, Leon retired from Excell Logistics in Dallas, Texas. Upon retiring and moving Harleton, Texas Leon enjoyed gardening. Leon was proceeded in death by his parents, Grover Armstrong and Ona Mae Rice-Armstrong; siblings, Stanford Harris, Jr. and Jennifer Armstrong. Leon leaves to cherish: his wife; Bennie Jewel, children: Tammy Denise Allen (Douglas) of Glenn Heights, Regina Ann Armstrong of Desoto, Texas and Rodney Leon Armstrong of Desoto; grandchildren: TyKisha Marie, Jaylen Montrel, Skyler Quinte, Royce Jarodd and Jewels Bene; siblings: Johnnie Rockwell, Bennie Satchell (Sammy), Larry Turnage (Rosenda). Embraced by family and friends.
