Funeral services for Mr. Ruben Stevens, age 74, of Ore City, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Murry League Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Mr. Stevens will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ruben Stevens, Jr. was born April 11, 1949 in Gilmer, Texas to, incomparable, Ruben Stevens, Sr. and Edwell Nell Stevens, who both preceded him in death. One child, Christopher Stevens, also preceded him in death.

Ruben was called home January 11, 2024 at Christus Good       Shepherd Medical Center at the age of 74. He graduated from Ore City High School. he was a lifelong member of Murry League   Baptist Church.

Ruben was united in holy matrimony to his true love, Mary Mathis, on November 26, 1945 and to this union, four beautiful children were born.

Ruben was a very devoted family man and loved his entire    family, which he showed each and every one of them. He was a  loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and predicted them going to the Super Bowl every year.

He was a long-time employee at Lone Star / U.S. Steel for 42 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2012. It was there at he gained some life-long friendships.

He leaves to cherish a multitude of his beautiful and                 unforgettable memories: his wife, Mary Stevens of Ore City, Texas; two daughters and one son, LaShunda Stevens (Tyrone), Shakeena Stevens, and DeTavian Stevens, all of Ore City, Texas; grandson, Carte’a Douglas of Lufkin, Texas; and a special, bonus grandson, Jaedyn Robertson of Monroe City, Missouri.

He also leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved siblings, three brothers, Bobby (Vernetta) Stevens of Longview, Texas,    Johnny (Le’Nette) Stevens of Tyler, Texas, and Larry (Louise)     Stevens of Lake Jackson, Texas; three sisters, Helen (Harold)       Edwards , Debra kay Stevens, and Vickie (James, Sr.) Police, all of Ore City, Texas; a special best friends that he called his brother,  Larry (Debbie) Dunn of Hughes Springs, Texas. He also left an    imprint on a host of nieces and nephews that will cherish his       precious memories.
