Funeral services for Mrs. Sheila Montgomery Cooper, age 63, of Diana, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.  Burial to follow at New Prospect Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.  Mrs. Cooper will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Shelia Birdene Montgomery-Cooper was born June 4, 1960 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Willie Lee and Ophelia Marie (Stoker) Montgomery, who preceded her in death.

She attended Friendly Elementary and Harleton High School, where she graduated in 1979. She met her soul mate, her love, and her one and only, Tommy Cooper in 1981. They then took their love to holy matrimony on June 27, 1983. They were happily married for 40 years, 6 months, and 2 days. She joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, and attended until her health failed. She loved plants, collecting elephants, and her family.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, a wonderful husband, Tommy Lee Cooper, Sr.; son, Tommy Lee Cooper, Jr. ; two daughters, La’Toya Black (Vontay), Ashley Cooper (fiancé Darrail), two grandsons and one granddaughter, Jaquaris, Jaleel, and Ja’Naeya Cooper; two sisters, DeVoria Hicks (Donald, Sr.), Flora Smith; god-sister, Elvora Vital; three brothers, Willie Lee Montgomery, Jr., Allen Montgomery, and Douglas Montgomery (Marion); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives, and friends.
