June 9, 1924 ~ March 9, 2016
Tawanda June Walker Edens went home to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, after a long battle but a peaceful final day. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, June 9, 1924 and passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Longview, Texas. Tawanda was very active in WMU and was passionate about Missions, as her son was in Missions. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ore City for 20 years and sang in the choir. She was a very faithful prayer warrior, and Sunday School teacher, and most of all, very dedicated to her family. She has been in the Ore City community since 1982 coming from Franklin, Louisiana. For 30 years she worked in medical records at Franklin Hospital Foundation in Franklin, Louisiana. She married the love of her life, William (Ed) Edward Edens whom she was married to for 62 years.Tawanda later became a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Diana but when her health began to fail, she could not be as active as she would have liked. She always had a smile on her face with love in her heart for everyone that came in contact with her. Her love was a shining example of what a Christian really should be. Tawanda was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Edens; and sons, James Alan and Terry Don Edens. She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, David Edens and wife Theresa, Michael Edens and wife Madelyn; daughter, Ann Braud and husband Jerry; daughter-in-law, Paula Edens; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.Ms. Tawanda Edens will surely be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Guestbook
Miss Tawanda,I will miss my adopted mom. When my own mom passed in 1998, she stepped in and said she would be there for me – and she was. To Ann, my sister and friend – it was bittersweet to spend some of her last hours with you both. She made Christ real to me back in Franklin in G. A.s – for that and her continuous prayers for me, I now lift her family to our Jehovah Jireh to provide His care for you. What a mission-minded example of Christ who helped bring me back from the brink of destruction. I thank her and will always remember her with love. To Ann, Mike, and David – I cherish her memory with you! Bettie
We will surely pray for this family in the loss of their matriarch. Tawanda Edens impact is seen and felt in the life and ministry of her son, Mike at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Mikes leadership and model of Christ in evident in his love for faculty and students. Im grateful and appreciative for her legacy through WMU and Sunday School ministry. Prayers for the family in the days to come. Hal and Julie Stewart
Dearest Ann, your mother was a special person; her love and passion for Christ had so much influence in my life. I wish I could be with you, but I am with Kennys family in Elysian Fields. I love you and your family, and will keep you in my prayers. We will meet her again!
Please know of our thoughts and prayers. May the God of all comfort and peace grant you the comfort and peace that only He can give.
