Thelma Royal

November 11, 1936 ~ February 27, 2017
Thelma Ruth Royal (Sutta) was born on November 11, 1936 in Hughes Springs, Texas. She was the first of eleven children born to Reed and Eula V (Turner) Royal. She grew up in Hughes Springs and graduated from Traylor High School in 1955 and she pursued higher education at Prairie View A&M University. Thelma was a very sophisticated and classy woman of great beauty. She had a big heart and loved people. It is this love for people that moved her to work in health care which personified her compassion in caring.
In the beginning of her career she worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and after thirty plus years, she retired from Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX where she worked in the field of Radiology. She found love with the late Mr. Warren Green and together they raised a wonderful son Warren Russell, a son Warren Jr. and a daughter Billie Jean. Together they enjoyed a wonderful life full of exciting experiences. She joined Love Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and was taught about the love of Jesus along with her siblings. In her early adult life, her quest to learn more about God directed her to St. Luke’s Baptist Church and in her later years her dedication to serving the Lord inspired her to join The Fountain of Praise Worship Center both in Houston Texas. She served with the Fountain of Praise Church Family for 25 plus years in various ministries which enabled her to serve with her Spiritual Gift of Helps.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; Reed and Eula V, the love of her life for 33 years, Mr. Warren Green; and three brothers, Jerry, Bobby and Robert.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memories: her son; Russell and loving daughter-in-law Cindy, stepson, Warren Jr. and stepdaughter, Billie Jean; two sisters; Vernell of Houston, Eula (Ludie) of Hughes Springs; five brothers; William Harold (Linda) and Lonnie of Hughes Springs; John L. of Longview, Donnie (Gloria) of Sacramento, California and Gerry of Houston; a half-sister, Irma Dean of Dallas; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
While our hearts are sorrowful, we are rejoicing in spirit for we believe that Thelma is resting in the arms of the Lord. She will surely be missed by us all.
My love and prayers are with each of you! May God bless and keep you!
