The Warrior Is a Child
Tina Bynum went to meet her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on April 26, 2023. Throughout her life she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, schoolteacher, pastorβs wife, and friend to so many. She knew that one day she would leave this world and go to heavenly reward with Jesus.
Tina was born to the late Leon and Ida Thigpen on December 17, 1964, in Tyler, Texas. She met her husband James on a blind date in 1985, married in 1986, and built a home together raising three children strong in the faith of the Lord. She also found joy in teaching children. Tina taught elementary school for over 20 years and cherished the years she had teaching children how to read and write. When Tina was diagnosed with cancer, she never once became discouraged and knew whatever path God sent her on that He was in control.
Tina asked that once the Lord called her home, that her brain tumor be donated to MD Anderson so that others could learn from her brain tumor. Her wish was that someone could be saved from someone learning from her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Leon and Ida Thigpen.
Those left to cherish her memory: her husband James; sons, Jim of Texarkana and Stephen of Atlanta, Texas; daughter, Katie of Hughes Springs; grand dog, Sarge; brothers, Ed Thigpen of Tyler, Texas, and Joe and Gail Thigpen of Tyler, Texas; sister, Peggy and Bruce Leitch of Fort Worth, Texas; many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends who have become family throughout her life.
Services for Mrs. Tina Bynum will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation following the service.
