Tommie Ray Murphy, 76, of Hughes Springs, Texas passed away January 12, 2020. Mr. Murphy was born November 24, 1943 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Tommie Murphy and Mattie Honea. Tommie served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and was a police officer in Dallas for 28 years and Hughes Springs for 10 years.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Murphy, Mark Murphy and wife Karen, Tommie Murphy, Jr.; two grandchildren, Dawson and Karlee Murphy; one sister, Mary Stone; one brother, Jimmy Don Murphy; brother-in-law, Roger Smith and wife Lynn and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Mattie Murphy; wife, Barbara Murphy; step-father, Irvan Williams and one sister, Patsy Buikema.
Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Steffan Dirden officiating. Burial to follow in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
