Tommy Wayne Linwood was born May 22, 1957, to the parentage of Ethel Marie Linwood Jackson, and was raised by his grandmother Christine Linwood, in Avinger Texas.
He accepted Christ at the early age of nine years old at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, in Avinger, Texas. He received his education through Avinger public schools and was a graduate of the “Class of 1975”. He worked in the steel industry for many years and later was self-employed as a timber consultant.
Tommy married Iris James on April 19, 1979 and remained married for 25 years and to this union they had two children.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Christine and J.C Linwood; his mother Ethel Marie Jackson; three brothers, Timothy Jackson, Gary Jackson, and Tracy Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Shametrice Easter (Kevin) of Longview, Texas, his son Dedrick Linwood of Frisco, Texas, his grand-daughter Germanie White of Longview, Texas; four brothers, James W. James (Laura) of Daingerfield, Texas, Ricky L. Linwood of Avinger, Texas, Darryl Jackson (Trina) of Houston, Texas, and Randall Jackson of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Bridgett Jackson of Avinger, Texas, Jan Warri, Michelle Jackson, and Katina Jackson, all of Houston, Texas; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his life-long friend and mother of his children Iris James of Longview, Texas.
Services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Hughes Springs High School Auditorium. Burial will follow at James Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Linwood will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
